“Scenes From The Suburbs”, Spike Jonze / Arcade Fire (Sub, Spanish)

On June 26 (2011), Canadian band Arcade Fire have made their 28-minute film inspired by their hugely popular album The Suburbs available for free viewing online through June 28.
The deluxe edition of the album available in the UK June 26 (on August 2 in the US and Canada), will be packaged with the film and two new tracks, "Speaking in Tongues" and "Culture War."

Scenes from the Suburbs, directed by Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich, Where the Wild Things Are), is billed as a "companion piece" to the album and focuses on a group of teenagers living in a disturbing suburban dystopia.

The film premiered in February at the Berlin Film Festival and was also screened at this year's SXSW in Austin, Texas.

The film has clips of teenagers on bikes interspersed with shots of soldiers apparently rounding up and possibly shooting adults in the town, while the two central characters drift apart.

The Montreal-based indie group won the Grammy Award for best album for The Suburbs, seeing off competition from the likes of Lady Gaga, Lady Antebellum and Katy Perry.

At the Brit Awards in London, the band, who first hit success with their 2004 debut album Funeral, also won the Best International Band and Best International Album prizes.
